rant Merle Bennett and Torsten Papenheim make up the seven year old duo rant. Using guitar and drums, they explore the various possibilities of the duo: concrete statements and abstract sounds, exploding and imploding while never losing the thread. This play creates the perfect balance between precision and looseness, groove and sound, describing their musical world in form and colour. The progress rant has made can be clearly heard on their first two albums: "seumsund / sundseum" (2004) and "a direct sensuous pleasure" (2006) - the first being more a soundscape of abstract colours, and the second an experimental pop album.

After finishing the music for the documentary film "Je groesser das Land" by Henning Röhrborn, rant begann the production for their third album "Land". This time they decided to stray from their duo-puritanism and have recorded and multitracked many more instruments than previously. "Land" consists of songs tested in concert, as well as pieces specifically composed for this record. The result being an experimental, natural sounding instrumental duo album of finely crafted pop songs and abstract collage, orchestral improvisations and field recordings, dub production techniques and the bare bones duo of guitar and drums.

"Land" was released by schraum on june 1st 2011.
A record-release-concert took place at schraum-label-festival in Berlin on june 4th.
And this october rant will tour Germany and Austria.
